Cannabis for Gastro symptoms and Disorders?

Can it work? Hear from the experts and our own on the ground history with clients..

Bonnie Goldstein, MD writes in Sept. 2020: "Gastrointestinal (GI) illnesses are a frequent reason for using medical cannabis".

At SKMS in Portland Maine, working with hundreds of healthcare referred cannabis clients, we first noticed a number of Chron's and IBS patients had become regular customers after fully developing the SKMS CherryWine strain Pink/Pink capsules, originally refined to prevent pediatric and adult seizures among Lyme Disease clients here in Maine referred to us regularly from the Scarborough Maine Lyme Clinic and the reputable and well known Dr. Sulak, medicinal cannabis Offices.

Chron's and IBS clients reported a remarkable change in daily symptoms with daily intake of SKMS CherryWine capsules, and commonly noted what seemed to be a change in patterns towards a healthier more stable gut. Mental health feedback from this was wonderful to hear: it is astonishing but true, that our digestive nervous system is connected to our brain, and literally alters the patterns of our thoughts and emotions, beyond just the effects of unwanted symptoms in our lives.

Dr. Goldstein explains further in her article that "these conditions include gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), two inflammatory bowel diseases — Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis — and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)".

"The gut has two main functions, namely digestion of food and host defense, protecting us from foreign invaders like bacteria and viruses. The endocannabinoid system, which is widely distributed throughout the gastrointestinal system, is a key player in keeping these two important functions regulated. It is found in the gut’s nerves and in the cells of the immune system, working to maintain homeostasis of gastric motility (the muscular contractions that work to move food through the bowel), intestinal pain signaling, intestinal inflammation, and maintenance of the barrier of the gut lining."

Best wishes on your health journey!
